Re: Survey For Young Adults, Youth, and Their Parents

Dear church family,

In May, Brian Buhler was our guest speaker and spoke about the challenge of keeping young people (youth and young adults), engaged with the church. He spoke about the importance of asking young people themselves how to meet this challenge. Several members of the Board were struck by this message and have felt that we should explore this ourselves and so we have created two surveys to help us do that.

The Goal

Our goal is to gather the thoughts and opinions of our current youth, young adults and parents to see what they are thinking in regards to being engaged with church life. Our target audience are those between the ages of 12 and 25 (and the parents).

The Survey

We have created two online surveys: One for youth and young adults and one for their parents. Our hope is that if you fall into these targeted age groups you will take the opportunity to complete the survey so we can hear your voice. In order for this to be helpful we need as many as people as possible from each group to do this survey, so please set aside a few moments and fill it out. We may also have some follow-up conversations, but this survey is our starting point.

How Do I get A Survey?

We have designed 2 surveys that can be accessed by scanning a QR code. There are two codes – one for youth/young adults and one for their parents. You can find these two codes in three places. First, right here on this page; secondly, in a special email that will be sent out containing the QR codes; and thirdly, they are also available to be scanned from the paper copy of the August Newsletter.

So if you are a youth, young adult, or parent, please participate by taking the survey! As well if you have any questions please email the church office directing your email to me and someone from the Board of Elders will be in contact with you.

On behalf of the Board of Elders, thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey!

James Gordon, Chair, Board of Elders
