About Sevenoaks
We dream of a mending, sending, and maturing Kingdom community!
Mending: Life often breaks and tears us down. Our sin breaks us and estranges us from God and from one another (John 8:34). Individuals, families, and communities experience brokenness. Jesus is the Redeemer whose reconciling death and resurrection mend our brokenness (Luke 4:16-21). Our church is all about joining the Lord Jesus in that work of mending.
Sending: Jesus is at work in our world and has called us to join him there. ‘As the Father has sent me into the world, so I am sending you.’ (John 20:21) At the level of identity we are a ‘sent people’, a people commissioned by Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) to point others to him and make disciples who will follow him. To be a sending church means that we send one another into God’s world whether that’s across the street or across an ocean. It means we focus on supporting, encouraging, and resourcing one another in our common work of pointing others to Jesus and making disciples.
Maturing: We want to grow up in all things into maturity in Christ. We know this is pleasing to God and something he wills for us all (Eph. 4:11-16). In attitude and belief, in worldview and behavior, we long to be like Jesus. He himself is our ‘profile’ of what God intended a human being to be. All our ministries at SAC will support and align with this goal of becoming mature in Christ.
