Jamie Fox
Pastor of Young Adults Ministries

If you see me around and think I talk funny, I don’t, I’m English (besides it’s you that have the accent!). I came to Canada from Northampton, England in 2002 to marry Renee after meeting her at Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in England. I studied at Regent College in Vancouver before taking this position in Abbotsford, which I began in January 2008. Renee and I have two feisty and energetic little boys, Caleb and Owen. My favourite sport is football (the real name for “soccer”) and my favourite team is Manchester United—I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. I also like to swim, eat out, watch movies, work out (though you can’t really tell), hike, play with my kids and spend time with family and friends. And yes, I do drink a lot of tea.

Ralph Hardy
Pastor of Children's Ministries

Karen and I love doing things with our kids, grandkids and other friends and family – especially if has to do with the outdoors or games. While I love hiking, Karen prefers strolling, but we both love reading a book by a lake or the ocean. Before following God’s call into ministry at age 44, I had a career in software development and project management. My passion in ministry is to help people find and follow Jesus and unleash their God-given gifts for serving Him. Karen and I love kids, love being around them and their families and supporting them as they go through the challenges they often face.

Mike Knott

Pastor of Student Ministries

I’m Mike. I’m married to Erin who is my favorite person in the world. We have two kids, Aidan and Becca. I’m an avid football fan (the real kind that’s played with what you probably call a “soccer ball”) who will always find time to play, watch, and talk football. I also find time for the Montreal Canadiens, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and watching 24. I also enjoy reading, blogging and playing video games. I’ve been working with students in some way, shape and form since I was a high school student. Some say I haven’t grown up, but that’s impossible because I weigh more now than I did when I was 17. I love Jesus. I love students. And I love to see the two connected.

Lyle Magnus

Pastor of Seniors Ministries

Hi, I’m Lyle Magnus. I have been on staff at Sevenoaks since the fall of 2000. Before that, my family—Ann and our five children—and I had spent 16 years in Regina. It was great to move back to “our” province, as both Ann and I grew up in the Okanagan, in the wonderful town of Oliver. Ann and I love to do things out-of-doors, like long walks, hiking and photography. We also find it relaxing to watch a great movie together. Right now, the love of our lives is our two grandchildren. It is an honour and a privilege to be a part of the staff at Sevenoaks and to work with the great people who call Abbotsford home.

Norm Morrison

Executive Pastor

The Lord has blessed me with an awesome wife, friend and soul mate, Marlene—and four wonderful daughters who love and pamper their mom and dad! Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work as an English teacher, radio/TV newsman, speechwriter, and as a consultant in strategic planning, change management, teambuilding and staff development. After a four-year stint in seminary, I've gone on to pastor at three churches—one in each of the three western provinces. I love helping people grow both spiritually and professionally, and I’m delighted to be working with Pastor Errol (same birthday: Feb 6) and the staff and congregation at Sevenoaks. Some of the personal things I enjoy are long walks and talks with my wife, family game nights, reading Christian classics, working out with weights and a speed bag, water fights and bike rides with our two teenage daughters, and oh yes, a Mars bar and a Pepsi. (I know, I know…)

Steve Otterbein

Pastor of Worship

Well...Guess I will start by saying that I am married to the most incredible woman I know—Shirley, whose strength and resilience are amazing. She is a full-time RN. We have 6 children plus one grandchild; 5 live with us, including our grandson, and the other 2 share an apartment in Coquitlam.

I have been in vocational ministry since March 1999, having served at three different churches, currently at Sevenoaks since March 2005. Prior to this I was in furniture design and manufacturing with two different companies, one in Vancouver, of which I was a part owner. I majored in Christian Education at Biola University from 1974–1980, and am still taking courses at A.C.T.S. Seminary at Trinity Western University, Langley. I spend the most of my time with my 2 youngest, and some of those activities include taking them to football, basketball, and self-defense. Otherwise we love to snow ski, go boating, play Monopoly, or laugh at mindless Mr. Bean videos on rainy days. I downtime with reading lots of books and following football and hockey stats.

Errol Rempel

Lead Pastor

Raised on the prairies (North Battleford and Saskatoon, SK), I am loyal to all things green and white (Saskatchewan Roughriders), blue and white (Toronto Maple Leafs) and brown and white (Tim Horton’s, cream and sugar). Marilyn and I have two adult kids (and one incredibly handsome grandson) living in Calgary with their spouses and we enjoy raucous laughter, Kingdom conversations, hiking trails, and vacationing somewhere that it doesn’t rain! I love to fish, have a love/hate relationship with working out, and I am insatiably curious about almost everything which means I usually have three books on the go, two of them about theology. I’m saving up for a Honda Shadow. I previously pastored in Calgary, Milton, ON, and Saskatoon.

Mikaela Barkman
Admin Assistant

Hi I’m Mikaela, born and raised in Abbotsford. My role here at the church involves designing and creating publications such as the bulletin, promo posters and brochures. I have a passion for photography and enjoy the creative element of my job. When I’m not working, you can find me at Starbucks, in the kitchen, at the gym or behind the camera. Or perhaps, on a plane bound for some far-off destination…likely in my dreams.

Tracy Bell

Receptionist

I was born in Kelowna but moved around a lot. We finally settled back to Kelowna where my family still lives. I grew up with three half brothers, and have two half sisters I have never met. I grew up in an unchurched family and became a Christian after being married. I’ve been married seventeen years to Rick, who works as an airplane mechanic. We have two teenaged children whom I adore immensely. My hobbies & interests include traveling, reading, cooking, fitness & nutrition, genealogy, restorative justice. I enjoy nature, music all kinds, movies, and long walks.

Ron Demers
Facility & Business Manager

I was born and raised on a small farm in Cherryville which is a tiny community in the Okanagan Valley. As a teenager I was a member of a famous country rock band named the "Cherryvillans" and a biker gang named the Cherryville trail riders. I enjoy exercise of any kind as well as reading, gardening, guitar, hiking and good music. I especially enjoy people who have a good sense of humor and the capacity to have a deep and spiritually engaging conversation.

I am involved in a mentoring ministry with young men from our church and have a group of my peers that I meet with every week. Before I began at Sevenoaks, I spent 35 years in purchasing and materials management in the Highway and Bridge Maintenance industry. I am very happily married to Joey with whom I am privileged to share my life. We have a wonderful blended family that we love dearly.

Brenda Jansen

Admin Assistant

I began my employment at Sevenoaks in January 2008. I am enjoying my role as admin support for the worship arts pastor. I was born in Saskatchewan and spent my formative years in Regina. I married and had three sons, two of which married in 2007. As a family, we lived in the Kootenays, Lower Mainland and then Red Deer. My husband passed away in 2004. I found myself back in the Lower Mainland in 2007 after marrying Don Jansen, a gentleman from this area. Since remarrying I have come to enjoy the outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. I also appreciate gardening, reading, and love to bake.

Heidi Peters

I grew up in Brazil and moved to Abbotsford when I was eleven. Although I am an outgoing & action driven person I love working with numbers – hence I’m involved in the church’s finances. I have enjoyed life with Gerry, my high school sweetheart, in pastoral ministries. We two married daughters and 5 grandchildren. I love running, the outdoors, sunshine, friends and spending time with the grandkids.

Wilma Priebe

Hospitality Coordinator

I grew up in the Cranbrook Alliance Church. My family moved to Abbotsford in 1969 so that Larry could find me and marry me. We have had the pleasure of parenting two wonderful sons who in turn have presented us with five granddaughters. As a young family we went to Mali, West Africa where were served in missions until 1990. Since then I have worked in food services at a Bible College, been a receptionist for two different Bible Colleges, been a pastor’s wife, and a massage therapist, among other things. I enjoy everything I do and there is more that I would like to do. I thank the Lord for giving me the strength and abilities that I have.

Sarah Westendorp

Admin Assistant/Facility Bookings Coordinator

I’m the youngest in my family with three older brothers and two very loving committed Christian parents! My family moved from London, Ontario to Abbotsford in 1990. Sevenoaks has always been a special place for me, being baptized here as a youth. I have a few passions in my life: growing up it was all about horses and riding, and ever since I got my first car I became obsessed with cars—which I still think boggles my parents’ minds, that their only girl became the car nut! 2003 was the changing point in my life: I put aside my shy introverted self and ended up helping run the second largest car club in the greater Vancouver area. Now I spend my days working and my weekends cruising, kayaking or hiking, and hopefully someday horseback riding again! I love where life has brought me and thank God for everything he has done for me and for all the amazing people he’s brought into my life.
